Royal Lake Como Riding Center

You can ride along the streets where the greatest Italian and International films have been shot during our guided Tours based in Como.

Royal Lake Como Riding Center
If you want to treat yourself to something special, our “Royal Lake Como Riding Center” must be your motorcycle headquarters. If you want the ultimate in riding, sightseeing, relaxing, dining and enjoying almost one week of your life exactly as you please, this deluxe motorcycle experience is perfect for you. With the birth of film, many great directors (from the Lumiere brothers to George Lucas) were captivated by the appeal of Lake Como and the nearby lakes and mountains in the Brianza area, which they have immortalised in their films, some memorable, some less so, but each of which makes its own contribution to telling the world about the beauty of this area.
Paint a daisy around your location riding your motorcycle along the most spectacular roads where George Clooney comes  there every year with his motorbike to explore different places.
Every tour starts and ends  in a comfortable and strategic hotel close to Bellagio and Como.
Lake Como is the center of the Land of Lakes in North  Italy. Here you can find the Mediterranean sun together with the typical Alpine landscapes but also the silence of the surrounding mountains, for a vacation by motorbike above every expectation.
The routes include nice villages such as Varenna and Mandello where you can visit the Moto Guzzi museum; Como, the town giving its name to the lake; back roads through the mountains at the back of the lake, where they produce genuine and tasty cheese such as Taleggio.
For example, you will ride on some famous passes such as the demanding Passo di Gavia with narrow roads and precipes on your side but when you are at the pass (m.2621/8500 ft) you feel a conqueror! Then Passo dello Stelvio, the highest in Europe (m.2758/9040 ft) will look easier even if with its 48 “tornanti” (twisty serpentines). Other possibilities? Bormio,  an authentic Roman spa: a great place to spend some time after a “twisty roads experience”.
You can visit St. Moritz, the place where the jet setters of the new millenium meet when they want to ski, ride, celebrate or just be seen among vips.
You are free to ride with the guide and the other participants or to ride on your own, maybe setting up a meeting with the others during the day, or to simply relax in your hotel. We are sure you will love the atmosphere, the freedom and the local hospitality at the Lake Como Riding Center.

Day 1: Arrival in Milan
0 mi / 0 km

Arrival preferably by 12.00 noon. Transfer from the airport to the hotel is available, if needed. The first afternoon you are free to visit the city on your own. In the evening you will have a briefing of the trip and we will give you the travel pack - a detailed road book. The meeting will be a good opportunity to get to know each other before starting the motorcycle tour. Overnight in Milan (north zone)

Day 2: Milan – Lake Como
110 mi / 170 km

Milano – Lecco–Valsassina –Varenna–Ghisallo-Bellagio-Tremezzo. Morning meeting at AIMTO headquarters in Milan to pick up the bikes and ride to Lecco where you will climb over the Pre-Alps of Lombardy up to the top of Valsassina. From the town of Ballabio you can define your road map through the valley. A stop at the Guzzi Café at Primaluna is, naturally, mandatory. From the town of Cortenova it is possible to go over the Passo Agueglio on good roads with fantastic views to Esino Lario and back down to the lake at Varenna. A visit of this typical lake fishing village is recommended. Arrive to hotel, welcome briefing, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Riding the Lakes and the Alps
160 mi / 200 km

Live the Lake of Como and other places on your motorbike. The roads around Como Lake are favourite weekend runs for the local motorcyclists. A very nice day can be spent doing a complete circuit of the lake. Stop here for a photo, there for a cappuccino, then on to some lakeside bar or bistro for lunch. A bar in Italy is not just a place to get a beer or a wine, they often serve excellent light meals and always serve excellent coffee. If you decide to dine in a restaurant, the local lake fish is always a good choice. From our headquarters you can head north and pass through some beautiful lakeside villages and then on to some quieter roads around the head of the lake. There are many beautiful places on the way but two well worth a visit are Villa Carlotta and Bellagio. Villa Carlotta in Tremezzo with its beautiful gardens and historic mansion is always worth seeing and then you can cross by ferry-boat to fascinating Bellagio in the center of the Lake with all its small shops and “scalinate” and wonderful lake views. From there you can go back down the winding coastal road to the historic town of Como. There you can stop for a while on the waterfront, perhaps visit the Volta Museum, buy a silk tie, and enjoy refreshments in one of the bars .The circuit could be done in about 4 hours but with stops, refreshments and lunch it is very easy to fill the day.

Day 4: Riding the Lakes and the Alps
160 mi / 200 km

Passo dello Stelvio is the highest mountain pass in Italy. From our hotel you head north but instead of turning left around the head of the lake you turn right into the Valley of Valtellina. Valtellina is an amazingly fertile region in which wonderful apples, wine corn and buckwheat grow. The buckwheat, known in Italian as "grano saraceno", is used in a local dish called “pizzoccheri”. As you pass through Valtellina you will see the historic towns of Tirano and Bormio. As well as having thermal springs Bormio is also a ski resort. Then you’ll start the climb up the pass. Care is required on some of the sections as the road is very narrow and care must be taken to leave room for oncoming vehicles. This is a case where use of the horn is thought considerate, not rude. You soon come to realise why Italian bike horns are so loud. Allowing for photo stops it is a good run for lunch at the pass.
